Breaking: South West governor imposes 24 hours curfew across the region ahead of senatorial election

In a communiqué issued this evening March 24 2018, the governor of the South West region has ban the movement of persons motorbikes and vehicles across the entire region for 24 hours.

The communiqué which is signed by Governor Okalia Bilai takes effect from 8:00PM on 24th March to 8:00PM which is Sunday 25th march 2018.

Excerptions are made for ambulances, administrative cars and that of security officlas.

The move comes barely hours after the governor of the North west region Adolphe Lele issued a similar communiqué banning movement of persons from one division to the other on election day in that part of the country.

The two regions of North West and Sot West have been marred by civil unrest as secessionist have taken up arms to fight the government

Top government official have been kidnaped recently in Batibo and Lebialem in the North West and South West respectively

Councilors across the country will be voting 70 senators tomorrow March 25 for the next five years in the upper house while the president of the republic is expected to appoint 330 others according to the constitution of the land.

The ruling CPDM currently has the majority councilors in all ten regions of the country
