You will not win this militarily-Nagy tells Biya

Published

on

Washington (AFP) – The United States on Tuesday urged Cameroon to devolve power in its troubled anglophone region, saying the government´s military response was only strengthening separatists.

The warning came weeks after the United States ended certain preferential trade benefits for Cameroon, citing human rights violations including arbitrary killings.

Tibor Nagy, the top US diplomat for Africa, said he believed advisors to Cameroon´s veteran resident, Paul Biya, were telling him “you can win this militarily.”

“The truth is, it´s not going to be won militarily,” Nagy told a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee.

“Every day more Cameroonians who in the beginning were probably very loyal Cameroonians are starting to think that maybe declaring a separate country is the way we want to go,” he said.

Why Kondengui inmates almost killed “General” Nambere

Published

on

Reports say former So-called Ambazonian fighter “General” Nambere has survived lynching in the hands of some Anglophone inmates at the Yaounde maximum security prison

Mimi Mefor info reports that the  fighter who has been campaigning for an end to the violence ever since he repented was visiting the inmates today January 23rd 2020.

Prisoners who  are reportedly angry at a man many of them  say is a traitor to the Anglophone struggle attacked him and got him severely beaten. He was only rescued by security forces present.

”General” Nambere shocked his followers when he  abandoned the fight for independence and gave up his weapons late last year in one of the most high profile defections since the start of the struggle

The former fighter turn peace crusader then disappeared   from the spotlight only to reappear along with over 700 refugees flown back to the country by government earlier this year.

He has since been a vocal critique of the struggle and one of the actors calling on the other fighters to drop their weapons and leave the bushes.

Separatist leaders had urged all their ground fighters who had links with Nambere to seize them as they alleged he was divulging sensitive information to the government

Beyond party politics:How Ngala Gerard became ‘lord’ in Nkambe

Published

on

He has always been a sleeping volcano in an opposition hot bed Nkambe. Towering his way to the pyramid of the divisional political ladder with signals felt across the national territory

Ngala Gerald is arguably one of the most famous names in the Anglophone regions, contributing in no small way to the national positioning of his native Donga Mantung and North West region. Many have described him as the Ekema of the North West region even though his crocodile approach can hardly be compared with the bullish and fearless persona once posed by the late  ‘king ‘of Buea

The Douala based business tycoon and illustrious son of the soil have been building his political future from where it should began-the base.

Patiently marketing himself among the grass-root militants while positioning himself as a philanthropist and savior of his impoverished population

Ngala understands that in any real democracy, the people constitute the highest political capital and in a region where opposition sentiments once ran deep, Nkambe needed a Ngala Gerald for the population to switch political allegiance  to the much disliked ruling CPDM

Records of his numerous humanitarian gestures and massive contributions for the development of his village as a private citizen are impressive, helping lift thousands of youths out of poverty with his copious charitable works while propagating a crusade to market the party of Paul Biya simultaneously.

He is credited to have built schools, hospitals house of Fon (palace) open new roads and gives yearly scholarships to thousands of students  and much more…his generosity and love for his home have never been questioned.

Ngala Gerald has been spending lavishly on his people in his effort to emancipate them from chuckles of poverty almost single-handedly and perhaps most importantly, an opposition stronghold, rolling out a series of enviable development programs most Cameroonians can only hear them during the numerous fake campaign promises from their politicians

His endless charitable gestures have held Ndonga mounting together and positioning him as one of the shining stars of the ruling party in the North West region

War against Ambazonian

His dislikes and disdain for separatist and their doctrine has been no secret, the political genius has succeeded to shield his people from the irresistible propaganda from separatist information warriors, calm their fears about systemic and endless discrimination orchestrated by Francophone majority and prepared their mind to welcome measures taken by the government to solve the crisis

Nkambe Central remains one of the least affected places  since the Anglophone crisis started in 2016 and they have paid a price for loyalty to the regime in Yaoundé

Ngala has been credited to whisk-off Ambazonian fears in his native Nkambe, working with the government to armed vigilantes in his community and school boycotts and ghost towns have been snubbed with unrepentant arrogance by the population

His critics accuse him of blind standing, saying he is one of the few privileged Anglophones who have betrayed their people for political gains, but the Nkambe people don’t seem to be buying that-at least if political developments there are anything to go by

His announcement to run as MP for his constituency came therefore as no surprise for a man who was already leading the ruling party’s grassroots administration as section president for the CPDM

But what was rather shocking was the subsequent retirement by the opposition’s Awudu Mbaya who has held that position for more than 15 years, leaving the seat uncompetitive for the peoples choice to sweep his way to parliament.

The resignation of the SDF MP who has been under pressure like all other MPs of the Anglophone regions to retire was interpreted by political, observers as a political surrender, arguing the MP knew his fate was sealed once Ngala announced he was going to run

The people of Ndonga Mantung are therefore hoping that their faithful sons can bring back more benefits to them once in parliament as he did as a private citizen od the country

Embattled Motanga summoned by Special criminal court for embezzlement charges

Published

Government delegate to Limbe city council Mr Motanga Monjimba, Former Secretary-General, Treasurer Chindong and Bob Diddy have been summoned to appear before the Special Criminal Court in Yaoundé on the 5th of February 2020 to answer charges of embezzlement of public funds involving more than 9 billion francs CFA over a period of 11 years.

The reported theft which they were indicted in the damming CONAC report which was released on December 19th, 2019 was one of the highlights of the anti-corruption fight in 2019.

Motanga who is running for the position of mayor for Limbe II council is widely seen as the front runner to the position of city mayor following the special status granted to the Anglophone regions, But his political ambitions look in tatters at the moment as he risks spending a very long time in prison if found guilty.

Scheduled to appear at the courts barely five days to the election, Motanga risk not participating in the February 9th polls as many former accused have been taken to prison directly after their appointment with the special court created to fight corruption

The 9 billion theft shocked Limbe and indeed the nation especially as the government delegate has been seen as one of the best in the country. It was a Christmas gift many of Motanga’s close aides and supporters didn’t see coming and the latest news will send won shivers in the spine of the landlord of Limbe as the future looks uncertain

Motanga is credited to have transformed Limbe to a small beautiful city and initiated the now much talked about Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture-FESTAC. But the latest corruption scandal surrounding him risked killing of any legacy he must have left in the town of friendship
